Settings & Editor Options
Editor theme, font, layout and preview options available in UniPreview's Settings panel.
UniPreview's Settings panel controls the editor's appearance and a few preview behaviors. All settings apply immediately and are not tied to an account.
Appearance
- Editor theme - Dark or Light
- Font - choose between a system monospace font, Fira Code, or Courier
- Font size and Tab size
- Word wrap and Minimap on/off
Preview behavior
- Debounce - how long UniPreview waits after you stop typing before refreshing the preview
- Zoom - scale the device preview pane
- "Allow external previews" - opt in to let Dart, Flutter and Angular code run live in DartPad, Zapp or StackBlitz instead of showing syntax-highlighted code only
See Using Device Preview Mode for the device size presets, and Sharing Code for how external previews affect privacy.
Keyboard shortcuts
UniPreview has a built-in shortcuts reference (Ctrl+? or the toolbar's "Keyboard shortcuts" button). The most useful ones:
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Ctrl+Enter | Run preview |
| Ctrl+S | Save |
| Ctrl+` | Toggle console |
| Ctrl+, | Settings |
| Ctrl+O | Open file |
| Ctrl+D | Duplicate line |
| Ctrl+/ | Toggle comment |
| Ctrl+Shift+F | Format code |
| Ctrl+N | New tab |
| Ctrl+W | Close current tab |
| Ctrl+Tab | Next tab |
| Ctrl+Shift+Tab | Previous tab |
| Ctrl+? | Show shortcuts |
Recovering from a crash
If the editor becomes unresponsive, the "Clear Data & Reload" option (shown on crash) resets locally saved files and resolves most issues.
Quick actions
Alongside the settings above, the toolbar offers a few one-click actions: "Copy code" copies the current tab to your clipboard, "Download file" saves it locally, and "Format code" (Ctrl+Shift+F) tidies up indentation. These sit next to the theme switcher, so you can toggle between Dark and Light directly from the toolbar as well as from Settings.
